About Anthony

Anthony was born in Boston to Mario and Linda Leite and is the proud first-generation son of an immigrant father from São Miguel, Portugal, and an Irish mother. One of six siblings, he grew up in Somerville surrounded by family, responsibility, and the kind of values that shape character early with hard work, loyalty, and accountability.

In 1997, he answered the call to serve, joining the United States Marine Corps. His honorable service was more than a chapter in his life, it was a foundation. The Marine Corps instilled discipline, leadership under pressure, and an unshakable commitment to a greater cause. It reinforced a mindset that service is not temporary, it is a lifelong responsibility.

After completing his honorable service, Anthony returned home to his family and has proudly called Lowell home ever since.  Anthony once again answered the call to serve in 2010 and reenlisted back into the United States Marine Corps on active orders and then in the Reserves to continue his duty with that same commitment that continues to define his life today.

As a Lowell firefighter, Anthony’s work centers on people, showing up in moments that demand trust, steadiness, and leadership. In addition, Anthony is a trusted presence in local schools and businesses, providing education on fire safety, opioid awareness, and community preparedness.

Anthony also serves as President of IAFF Local 853, where he stands up for his fellow firefighters, advocating for fair wages, fair treatment, and the rights they deserve. His leadership is grounded in accountability, respect, and a willingness to speak up when it matters.

His commitment to service extends beyond his profession. He is actively engaged in supporting veterans, ensuring those who have served are not forgotten once they return home. He understands the weight of that service and works to make sure veterans receive the respect and support they’ve earned.

He serves as the Co-Director of the Greater Lowell Emergency Services Critical Incident Stress Management District 6 Team, supporting first responders and community members navigating trauma, loss, and crisis. It is work that requires compassion, strength, and the ability to lead when others need it most.  He is also deeply involved in addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing the community, working with individuals dealing with dual diagnosis, addiction, and those experiencing homelessness. These are not abstract issues to him, they are real, personal, and require consistent, hands-on engagement.

This is not campaign work, it is work he has already been doing, long before entering this race.

That is what separates Anthony.

He is not running on potential ideas, he is running on a record of service. He has already been here, doing the work, advocating for people, and leading with integrity.

That same approach carries into his priorities for the community.

Anthony is committed to expanding affordable housing opportunities so working families and long-time residents can continue to live in the communities they call home, while supporting smart development with strong local control that protects neighborhood character and quality of life.

He will work to reduce rising energy costs and strengthen oversight to ensure transparency and accountability for residents who are feeling the burden of increasing utility expenses.

Understanding the realities facing so many families, Anthony will prioritize mental health and substance use support, including investing in dual diagnosis treatment programs, expanding access to care, and ensuring every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

He is committed to investing in our community, modernizing school and road funding formulas, strengthening workforce development opportunities, improving infrastructure, and expanding access to services for our veterans.

Throughout his life, Anthony has taken on roles that require trust, strength, and accountability. He listens. He understands. And when action is needed, he steps forward without hesitation.

We deserve a State Representative who shows up, listens, and puts people over politics. We should expect accountability, transparency, and real solutions from Beacon Hill.

As your State Representative, Anthony Leite will serve with honor, courage, and commitment.
